National Action & Coordination Group For Ending Violence Against Children, India (NACG-EVAC India) is a country level civil society forum of the South Asia Initiative to End Violence against Children (SAIEVAC), an apex body of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), with a vision that all children irrespective of gender, throughout South Asia enjoy their right to an environment free from all forms of violence, abuse, exploitation, neglect & discrimination.
NACG-EVAC India is a constellation of a multitude of individuals, organizations and institutions singularly committed to ensure the realization of children’s rights as stated in the UNCRC and its optional protocols and the relevant SAARC conventions.
PURPOSE
The purpose behind the establishment of NACG can be grouped under the following heads:
- To ensure the realization of children’s rights as stated in the UNCRC and its Optional Protocols and the relevant SAARC Conventions.
- To take forward the SAIEVAC agenda in India for ending violence against children.
- To prevent and respond to all forms of neglect, abuse, exploitation and violence against children in all settings.
PRINCIPLE
The four guiding principles of NACG are non-discrimination; devotion to the best interests of the child; the right to dignified life, survival and development; and respect for the views of the child.
THEMATIC AREAS OF INTERVENTION
NACG EVAC India shall take appropriate action and work for ending all types of violence on children in all settings. However, the thematic focus areas of NACG are as follows:
